This space saving storage solution is ideal for highly organised operations with larger volumes of pallets per SKU and storing large quantities of similar products. The Drive-in solution dramatically increases your storage space and usability by eliminating picking aisles, thereby maximising usable space.
The system increases the productivity of drive-in racks by using high visibility racking upright guards and ground rails.
Importantly, the entry guides bolted to the ground rails, allow quick replacement in case of damage.
Due to the enhanced space utilisation of drive-in pallet racking, this design can also make large scale refrigeration projects more viable, solving the need for high-density storage.
There are two types of Drive-In rack installations:
• Single Drive-In racking – has a common forklift entry and exit only at one end. This is referred to as Last In, First Out (LIFO) Racking. The last pallet stored in the bay is the first to be taken out.
• Drive-Through racking – has entry points at both ends. Using two entry points is referred to as First In, First Out (FIFO) racking. This system allows pallets that are loaded in to be pushed to the opposite end. The first pallet loaded is the first to be unloaded at the other end. This is ideal for palletised products with expiry dates or limited shelf life.
Each of these racking systems has its advantages and can be designed to meet the needs of your business, your load and unload procedures.
The Bowen pallet racking system complies with AS4084-2023 Australian Standards and is an ideal high-density pallet storage solution.
Drive-in racking allows the maximum use of space and volume due to the elimination of access aisles. The storage volume is therefore more than doubled compared with selective pallet racking. Ideal for cold storage and dry store goods, drive-in racking is suitable for businesses that have high pallet quantities, but don’t require fast stock rotation and immediate accessibility.
